This site started out as an edtech blog, but I have started using it again to document significant events in my life, especially my recent apprenticeship with Elephant Journal. Thanks for following me.

Week 3 Reflection ED 5311
This week I am narrowing down the subject of my action research. I realized that trying to discover what is keeping the teachers from using the CALL (computer assisted language learning) program is actually a waste of time. I know that the teachers in my district are under extreme pressure due to the impending reduction in force that is to come at the end of this school year. The action I have decided to take is to just go ahead and set up half of the students in the CALL and make sure that they get time to utilize the program during computer lab each week. I will work with the computer lab para professional to instruct the students on the log-in procedures. I will then compare the gains made on TELPAS by these students to those who aren't using the CALL.

This sounds like an excellent action research plan! I sure hope that it is successful in helping your ESL students!
